Reducing the risk of pressure ulcers in wheelchair users:
As you know, pressure ulcers are a serious threat to anyone that spends significant time in a wheelchair. The impact on patient’s and family quality of life, danger and costs associated with pressure ulcers is staggering. Sensoria Health teamed up with Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center (West Coast SCI Model System) to create a solution that helps prevent pressure ulceration and improve quality of life. This new innovative solution, Sensoria® Mat: Wheelchair Wellness Coach, combines unique textile pressure sensors, a dedicated mobile application for the user and remote patient monitoring for the research and clinical team. The system monitors the users time on the wheelchair and reminds and tracks the quality and quantity of pressure relief exercises. Clinicians have the ability to holistically look at a cloud based dashboard and see which patients are adhering to the recommended protocol and which ones are struggling. Allowing for an appropriate clinical intervention or escalation of care.
